Ajay Mishra is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with a career spanning August 1984 to July 2020, encompassing senior leadership roles across the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana Government, the Government of India, and an international deputation with the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). He most recently served as Special Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Telangana Government, during which the state achieved national leadership in solar energy capacity and rooftop solar installation, and completed 100% household electrification. He has also held Principal Secretary and Secretary-level charges across Revenue, General Administration, Home, Infrastructure & Investment, IT & Communication, Rural Water Supply & Sanitation, Transport, and Higher Education portfolios. Earlier in his career he served in various district administration roles including as Collector & District Magistrate of Warangal District. He holds an M.Phil. in International Politics and an M.A. in Politics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and has undertaken multiple foreign training and study visits, including a course on Performance Assessment and Risk Management at Duke University. He is currently active in several honorary and advisory capacities, including as National President of UNACCC and Governing Body member of Guru Nanak University, Hyderabad.
