What does an advisor actually do for me?+
They explain how the system you are dealing with really works — which department owns the decision, what a file needs before it will move, where applications of your kind usually stall, and what a realistic timeline looks like. You are buying judgement and interpretation from someone who has administered the process, not representation.
Can an advisor approve my file, or speak to a serving official for me?+
No, and we will not ask them to. Every advisor on Kautilya is retired: they hold no office and exercise no authority over any live matter. Nobody here intervenes in a pending decision, carries a file, or contacts a sitting officer on your behalf. What you get is a clear reading of the process and of your own position within it — which is usually what was missing.
Who can see my consultation?+
The advisor assigned to it, and the Kautilya operations team who read your request in order to prepare the brief and select that advisor. Nobody else. Documents reach an advisor only when operations deliberately shares them — nothing is forwarded automatically because an advisor was assigned.
Are the advisors verified?+
Yes. Identity, service record and retirement are confirmed before anyone is listed, and every profile states the posts they actually held. Nobody appears on the platform as an anonymous ‘former official’.
Do I choose the advisor, or do you?+
Either. You can browse the directory and request someone specific, or describe the problem and let us match you. Most clients do the second — our team reviews the requirement and proposes the advisor best suited to it.
How do you decide which advisor fits my case?+
We record what your engagement actually needs — the advisory domains involved, the state or region, your sector and preferred language — and match that against each advisor’s recorded service background. A person, not a system, makes the final choice, and you are told the specific reasons behind it.
What happens after I submit a request?+
Operations reviews it, normally within 24 hours. We build a brief from what you have told us, identify the right advisor, and come back to you with who we propose and why. Once you approve that, we send a quote. The consultation is scheduled after payment, and you receive the joining details with the confirmation.
What does my advisor see before we meet?+
A written brief covering your organisation, the issue in your own words, the challenges involved, and only the documents we have specifically chosen to share. Nothing is sent to an advisor automatically.
How is it priced?+
Per engagement rather than by subscription. The quote reflects the seniority of the advisor and the scope of the work — a single session, a defined project, or an ongoing retainer. You see the amount before you commit, and nothing is charged until you accept it.
What if the advisor declines my request?+
Advisors can decline — most often because the matter sits outside their service background, or because they judge themselves too close to it. We match you with another advisor who fits the same requirement and tell you why they fit. You are not charged for a consultation that has not been arranged.
Who is Kautilya for?+
Organisations and individuals dealing with government process where the cost of getting it wrong is real — a company facing a licensing or compliance question, a startup navigating approvals for the first time, an established business with a matter that has stopped moving and no clear reason why.
